Fabulous Find For A Friday-----Fun, Funky Flats

I used to wear heels all the time.

I modeled for 20 years, and wore huge heels almost every day, in runway shows and in real life, as I pounded the pavement going on "go-see's". You see, I was on the shorter side for a model, only 5 ft. 7 in., so I had to wear my highest heels to be taller.

I even had to squeeze my toes into smaller, size 6 shoes for runway shows, sometimes, as those are the standard size---even though I wear 8 narrow.

I also have, what is commonly called in the acting world, "character toe". This is when you have spent too many years in your character shoes, doing plays and musicals---dancing and all. Since I have been doing that for most of my life since grade school, I have pretty bad toes---the large one---gets it the worst.

Oh, yeah, my feet have taken a beating.

So, now I can't wear heels anymore. I have tried. I have tried. And then I try again.

I end up with the most painful feet----so painful that I can barely walk after. The balls of my feet are screaming at me and feel so tender. My toes are hating me, and won't behave for days after.

In short, I have had to realize that my life is going to be relegated to wearing flats.

So, today, I am going to glory in wearing flats.

I love fashion and I practically cry every time I see those high stiletto heels that I want to be able to wear, as they continue to be in style, but then I have to keep turning the pages of my fashion magazines, hoping to see that flats are still in. Thank goodness, they are.

Lets celebrate FLATS!

On gojane.com, there are some really cute and AFFORDABLE flats!

Look at this great color assortment! Orange with a great buckle.
Lavender high tops.
Amazing green and yellow with a round buckle---love those!
And the cobalt blue with the round button----gotta have 'em!

Here are some of my own favorite flats. I like to wear them with funky colored ankle hose---- found at Target, of course. And then I pair them with my skinny jeans, so you can see them really well. Sorry, girls, but I think that skinny jeans even look good on those of us that aren't stick anorexic thin------so THERE!

These are the ones that I have on today---purple and patent---Mary Jane style.

These are well worn, but one of my favs----love the holes, and the pointy toe.

I got these last year to go with my new "blue" additions to my wardrobe----cute
with ankle straps

These are my latest find---tourquoise with big buckles----don't you love the fish net anklets?

And these are my all time favorite flats----tried and true---and oh, so comfy---in
Periwinkle, don'tcha know.

Now, I have a lot more! I could be posting them all day.......and I have found that I can actually wear "kitten heels" to church, so I have a few for that---I believe----in purple, pink, white and tan.

Hmmmm....I really do need a pair of navy ones.....

And, oh yeah-----I guess that I should tell you the best part.

My hubby loves them! (Which is a rarity in this day and age of hooker heels and that's all men like to see women in!)

In fact, he still remembers the first time that we went out---I was wearing these white tie-up flats.

He said that that was when he fell in love with me.

I too have embraced the flats. I try to wear heels more because I'm shorter then everyone by being barley 5'6. They look great and are fashionable. Love it!

I prefer to wear flats and only rarely wear heels except for special occaisons. Or even wedge heels, which give me a bit of height but don't cause me any pain. And I am a huge fan of sketchers. They come in cool colors and designs. I am on board with flats!

I love shoes!

I don't wear heels often, but I love them. Your flats are a fun find, though. Thanks!

And thanks for visiting my blog!

You always look GREAT -- from head to TOE!

I like to put on a pair of heels every once in awhile... just to feel taller than my (short) 5'3" self.

I love heels, but have a bum ankle that likes to twist on me without any warning - so flats it is.

The orange ones and your pink flatrs with the pointy toes and holes are awesome!

I love flats, if I wear heels I end up 6' tall! But now is the time for shopping for sandals & flip flops!!! Yay Spring.

Oh and I love the blue ones with the ankle straps... so cute!

They, indeed, are both fun and funky, just like the owner. Hee hee.

LOVE Flats.

Why?

Not because I have that toe thing you just said. But because I'm the clumsiest one EVER that you will find. I only dare wear them in my home, when playing dress up.

I even almost tripped at my wedding. And I wasn't even walking.

I really should embrace the flats. I finally broke down and bought a few. I just feel like such a clod when I walk around in flats...

I love flats, though Randy never likes the shoes I buy. I just bought a pair of black ballerina style ones and they are so comfortable. You are known the quirky funky sister for good reason! Love ya

Oh the days. I too wore heels for years and now am paying the price.

My husband likes me in flats only because he is not so tall. Our daughter wears heels and towers over her father. She is 5'8. Dad is 5'7"! It is funny. At least to her. Her Dad? Not so much. LOL

You are so lucky you are tall enough to get away with flats! I too cannot walk in heels, so I am just grateful that I can find clogs with a 2-inch, barely slanted sole that puts me at just over 5 feet tall.

What are kitten heels? That's the second time in 2 days that I've seen that phrase.

To be 5' 7" and look good in flats! I really envy you!

When you are 5' and wear flats you look like a munchkin ready to do the "lollipop dance"

Trust me on this one...........

Such cute flats :) I still think ballet flats on the right outfit looks sexier than heels lol.

I just can't buy into the flats. I think I look ridiculous in them.

HELP!

I've yet to jump on the flat bandwagon. I just HAVE to have some sort of heel! After your feet stories, though I imagine you are a podiatrists nightmare! :)

I love flats! When I first met my husband I was thrilled that I would get to heels whenever I wanted - he's a foot taller than I am - but now that I can, I don't. Wear heels, that is. I live in flats. Great pix of your favs!

Okay, so how many shoes do you have? I can't believe you don't have navy. Love you!

Oh, you guys make my heart soar!

Thanks for all your great comments---I love reading them---and I am so glad to see that there are more out there that are doin' flats with me----YOU ROCK!!!

And to those who can still rock those heels---I'm just a teensy bit jealous...

I love the green ones! I used to be a flats-only girl, and I've only started venturing to heels in the last couple years. But I look ridiculous walking.

The story of your husband is sweet, I remember shopping with you when you found your wedding shoes. If those were indeed the ones you ended up using.

Love you, Shawn! You are so much fun.
