As I have mentioned before, I am a gal that goes no where without her face....or.....er....ah......her makeup on.
I have been known to take the extra time to get my makeup on before I even go out to the bus stop in the afternoon and I REFUSE to go anywhere----shopping or even to the post office, unless I have a full face on.
So, how exciting is it for me when spring comes and Marie Claire (a fashion magazine) and Elle (another fashion magazine) are touting that one of the looks on the runway are showing bright colors----not only in the clothes, but on the eyes as well.
Another thing that I will share with you if you don't already know it, is that I am a gal that loves my bright colors. I stick pretty much to the basics during the fall and winter, drab and dark, but when spring and summer comes, I am like a butterfly just out of her cocoon.
So, to help celebrate the colorful season, I decided to get some new eyeshadow. I already have a great orange one, green one, pink that is to die for, and then of course, the stand-by navy blue. But I wanted to get more of a turquoise and well, I couldn't pass up this great find from Cover Girl:
Or you might like this one. It reminded me of the colors of Mary Quant cosmetics in the late 80's. Oh, you weren't alive then? Sorry,.....you missed out on some great stuff.
I absolutely love the way they did this orangish-red eye makeup----it is divine:
And where I might not go quite to this extreme or to the extreme of the first picture, I decided to go with the blue today and let you see how it looks. (I wore orange yesterday and pink the day before, but didn't have the brain to remember to record it---and no, its not Maybelline blue.)
So, what do you think? Would you be a person that would try this? Could you walk into your local supermarket with this look? Or is it too much for you? (Disclaimer: I don't look as good as the aforementioned models, as I don't have professional lighting or lip injections, so just deal with it!)
And notice that the lips and cheeks need to be a bit less bright with the bright eyes. Don't go too dark on those! Can you say "hoochie mama"?
So, let me know what you think. Yes? Or a resounding "No way!"
But it won't change my opinion, cause I love it....

Wow, it looks so beautiful on you. I don't think I could go so bright. I do like it a lot.
I will admit that I used to have to have my face on too when I would go out. I would even put my face on to go to the gym and then shower it all off when I got home. That was years ago, and now I just don't care. It was too much work and I decided nobody cared.
I love it on you - especially the lip color (do tell). I've done purple with my green eyes and I love the effect, but I don't think I could do the brighter colors - I'd need the fun personality to go with it. :)
You can totally pull it off. Me, I look ridiculous. But then, I don't really do hats either.
Lipstick is quite another story, though. I'm all over that.
I would look like a clown haha. But it suits you well.
You look gorgeous!
I wear more subtle eye shadow colors (smokey), and I do go out without my face sometimes.........always run into someone I hadn't seen for awhile..........swear I will never do that again....
But, I never learn!
I am jealous! I can never wear bright eye shadow... but you look gorgeous. I have to stick with the standard browns, maybe a dark purple (that still looks brown!) Maybe I will try again now that spring is here!
You look beeautiful, dahling but that woman with the red-orange eyes looks like she has a disease that the Disease Control Center in Atlanta are tracking down at this very moment. Run, Shawn, run like the wind before it catches up to you.
I don't know how you pull it off, but you do...... GORGEOUS! I would look like a hooker.
I probably should take a little more time with my makeup, it might help me... : )
Looks great! Enjoy those colors. I'll stick to the more subtle, natural look thank you very much.:)
You are definitely a HOT MOMMA! I'm trying to experiment with bolder colors...outside of my trio of browns....you look WAY better than me though....I love the look!
Looks great on you! Not so sure that I could pull those colors off...but who knows. Maybe I will give it a try.
AAAhhhh-----Thanks for the compliments---you guys are being so kind...
As for the lips, you snazzy Mrs. Organic, I just use N.Y.C. brand---from Target, I believe---its the soft pink from there.
I am hoping to see some of you trying some new makeup and let me know the results!
My friends call me color challenged! But seeing you (a blonde too) makes me want to put more color into my life and face. Thanks!
Oh yes yes yes! It looks fabulous on you! I'd rock it to the supermarket in that:) Don't know about the other colors on myself, but on you, definitely! Now you need to take photos of all the other colors and show us, you hear?!!
I love being a girl and being able to wear different colored makeup. I agree that redish orange eyeshadow was so pretty.
I'm having flashbacks to the '80's blue eyeshadow days... I couldn't pull this off, but if anyone can, it's you!
Bright colours all the way!! I love the blue on you! And I hope you had a fabulous Easter weekend :)
Wow, I don't think I could pull off that style, but you ROCK it! I was alive in the 80's but not wearing makeup...I do love all things 80's though. I love your lip color, too...what is it? Thanks for the visit! :)
Kami
I love that color on you! I love bright colors and I should be more bold and do other colors. I wish I had the makeup skills. I have lots of different eye shadow colors though - purple, pink, yellow, black, silver, blue, and brown.
Switching it up is always fun.
You totally do look as good as those models. A resounding yes! teach me!
It looks great on you but I couldn't pull it off. It would make me feel too self-conscious.
Wow - Now I want to go out and buy some colorful new make up. That covergirl set looks so "happy" I think. Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
You look amazing. So fresh and put together and chic.
But I'll tell you, I couldn't do it. I just don't feel like ME when my eyes are done up like that. The most I dare is brown or gray.
I know. Boring. Boring boring boring boring NERD.
I really cannot pull off bright colors with my complexion. Though I never wear makeup and when I do people always ask why. LOL
You LOOK fabulous!!
I'm the opposite. I have no idea how to put on makeup, my family of women come from minimal makeup.
But I love when people makeup me. :)
I feel special.
